The arrival of summer may mean sun, sea and sand, but it also means… FESTIVALS!!
I’m a very proud big sister, because my brother Hubie is doing a DJ set at next month’s Longitude festival. He’s part of the Friday July 17th line-up, which includes Hozier. So my whole family is going along to cheer him on and soak up the atmosphere. Fingers crossed for sunshine!
With Longitude and Electric Picnic coming up over the next few months, I’ve been thinking about festival wear. The shops and online stores are jam-packed with brilliant outfit ideas, and now is the best time to buy them before the new autumn/winter stock begins to creep in.
But rather than buying an entire new outfit, it makes more sense to me to jazz up a pair of shorts or ripped denim jeans with some funky festival accessories. There are loads of really cool and inexpensive bits and pieces that will instantly make an outfit in your wardrobe festival-worthy!
Here are my top 5 festival accessories:
1. Snake Effect Gladiator Flat Sandals from ASOS – ā¬61.64.
I absolutely love all of the snakeskin effect pieces around at the moment, and combined with the super-trendy gladiator style makes this one very cool sandal! Pair them with distressed denim shorts for a great daytime look.
New sunnies are one of the easiest and cheapest ways to update your look, and these 60s-style floral beauties epitomise retro festival chic! Wear them with a floral headband for double the flower power š
I love this summery version from Missguided, which features sunflowers and girly pink roses.
Ever since I wore this fresh flower headpiece for our wedding party at
Powerscourt Hotel almost a year ago, I’ve been obsessed with flower head accessories! I felt like a flower fairy for the evening š
While fresh flowers can be pretty pricey and impractical for a festival, you can recreate the look with this cute floral headband.
I adore this cute cream top! Fringing is a brilliant way to inject a dose of festival fashion into an outfit, and this would look great worn over shorts or jeans. It’s also the kind of top that you’d wear again on hols over a bikini.
Festivals and fringing are a match made in fashion heaven! This bag is a great way to update an outfit for a festival, and being a cross-body style means that it would be comfortable enough to wear all day and a safer way to store your phone, money and other essentials. I was actually eyeing it up in store the other day, and I loved the shiny gold detail on it. It would get plenty of compliments š
I hope this gives you some inspiration for upcoming festivals. Happy shopping!
