Raw hemp seeds are a powerhouse of complete plant-based protein, B vitamins and vitamin D, calcium, iron and dietary fibre. They’re widely considered one of the most perfect foods for both athletes and more sedentary people, thanks to their broad spectrum of nutrients for optimal health.

Essential Fats:

They provide us with those important protective skin vitamins A and E, and an ideally balanced ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fats, to boost cell membranes and protect against inflammation.

When dry skin or spotty breakouts crop up, I increase my intake of omega-3 fats and I believe it helps to reduce inflammation and support softer, smoother skin.

Omega-3 fats are highly anti-inflammatory and are important for the repair of your skin, to maintain healthy moisture content, for general flexibility and they’re important for the structure of each and every cell wall in your body to keep them fluid and supple.

Protein for Fitness:

These tiny superfood seeds are a complete source of easily-digested plant protein, with 7.4g of protein per serving, making them a super food to support fitness goals. I often add a tablespoon or two to a post-training protein smoothie to help boost its healthy fat and amino acid content.

Another great option is to add a scoop of hemp protein powder to shakes and smoothies. Just look out for a cure brand, free from added sugar or chemical sweeteners.

Their fibre helps to promote good digestive health and in turn, that can encourage less bloating.

Easy to Eat:

Hemp seeds are so easy to add to porridge, salads, soups, smoothies or even stews, and I often just eat them as a quick and filling snack. Sprinkle them on your breakfast, lunch and dinner for a health boost, or try my Omega-3 Granola Power Balls as the perfect post-workout recovery fuel!
